628 Bourke Street
Melbourne, Victoria

628 Bourke Street, Melbourne has been transformed into a contemporary workplace through a strategic renovation by Peddle Thorp Architects. The project focused on repurposing and reusing the existing asset, extending its lifecycle while delivering modern amenity upgrades and a revitalised entry experience.
A key feature of the redevelopment is the activated rooftop, now a flexible outdoor space that enhances tenant wellbeing and has helped attract high-calibre occupants. Upgraded lobby, façade, and end-of-trip facilities ensure a seamless arrival and day-to-day experience, positioning the building as a competitive and desirable workplace in Melbourne’s CBD.
The Little Bourke Street façade was completely reimagined to capture the spirit of Melbourne’s laneway culture. Layers of texture, transparency, and light create a more dynamic edge to the street, inviting people in and enriching the pedestrian experience. The new façade enhances permeability and activates the frontage, transforming the entry sequence into a lively, engaging threshold that reflects the city’s vibrant urban character.
