Brady Hotel

Rising 32 storeys above Melbourne’s CBD, 278 Little Lonsdale Street reinterprets the city’s familiar red brick character through a contemporary architectural expression. Strong vertical fins accentuate the tower’s slender form, creating a distinctive counterpoint to the predominantly horizontal rhythm of its surrounds. A vibrant communal space at Level 8 provides an engaging retreat for hotel guests, while the ground floor restaurant and bar activate Zeven Boom Lane as a welcoming social destination.

The development responds carefully to its broader urban setting, mediating between the taller buildings to the west and the more modest built form to the east. Its scale, composition and materiality establish a considered dialogue with the diverse architectural character of the surrounding precinct.

At street level, the design retains elements of the laneway’s original building fabric and reinforces its heritage character. Sculpted brickwork wraps the ground floor columns before extending upward into the façade, where integrated planting softens the built form. This interplay of masonry and greenery creates an organic transition from the pedestrian realm to the tower above.
